What is a Promo Code Discount?

Short for promotional code, a Promo Code provides bookers with access to a promotional rate. On NightsBridge you are able to create promo codes to send to your bookers.

These discounts are exclusive and only apply when a guest enters a specific code (made up of letters and numbers) on your NightsBridge booking form.

When a valid Promo Code is applied, it unlocks special discounted rates that are not visible or available to guests who don’t have the code.

Why use Promo Codes?

Promo Codes are ideal when you want to offer a discount without publicly reducing your standard rates.

You can use them to:

  • Encourage commission-free direct bookings
  • Reward repeat or loyal guests
  • Run flash sales or seasonal promotions
  • Create private rates for events or corporate clients
  • Incentivise agents or referrers

Because the discount is hidden behind a code, your public pricing remains unaffected.

Where Promo Codes work

Promo Codes are:

✅ Available on your NightsBridge Booking Engine

❌ Not sent to Booking.com or other connected channels

Guests must either:

  • Enter the code manually on your booking form, or
  • Use a straight-to-the-rate link

How Promo Codes affect your rates and other discounts

Promo Codes apply a percentage discount to your Best Available Rate (BAR).

If another discount already applies (for example, a Basic Discount), the Promo Code is applied on top of the BAR.

Example:

Rack Rate: R1,000
Basic Discount (20%) → R800 (BAR)
Promo Code (10%) → R720 final rate

This means Promo Codes stack on top of existing discounts.

When Should You Use a Promo Code?

Use a Promo Code when:

  • You want a private or campaign-based offer
  • You want to track marketing performance
  • You do not want to reduce your public rates
  • You want to reward specific guests or groups

If you want an automatic public discount, consider using a Basic or Long Stay Discount instead.
