Basics: Payment Options

Booking.com has 4 different payment methods that can be set up on your Extranet.

We recommend you only accept credit cards, however if you are happy with EFT, please see below:

Credit Card

Card details will be provided - please see tutorial on where to find these in NightsBridge.

1.  If you are using a Payment Gateway (PayToStay, Iveri, PayBridge)

The deposit will automatically be deducted.

You need to collect the BALANCE.

(Please note: You will need to ensure that the policy on Booking.com matches the policy on Nightsbridge, that will tell the guest when payment will be deducted. In the case of automatically taking payment - the policy needs to read "Deposit will be taken any time after booking".)

Virtual Card payments

Booking.com is now able to do Virtual Card.

This means you'll occasionally receive bookings with virtual credit card details attached.
Payment is guaranteed, and you can charge this virtual card according to the date in the confirmation email. For non-refundable reservations, this is the same day, while for other reservations it is usually the date of check-in. Virtual Card bookings are dependent on what the guest selects on the front end.

How will it work?

Guest books and pays for their reservation on Booking.com, Booking.com loads the money onto a virtual credit card and sends this to you. You receive the virtual credit card details with the reservation.

What is a virtual credit card?

A virtual credit card is actually just a digital version of a MasterCard. You will receive the details with the reservation, just as you normally would, and can charge the card the same way you would remotely charge any other card.

The virtual credit card can be charged as of the date included in the booking confirmation, and they will take care of modifications or refunds so there's no hassle on the properties side.

What if the guest cancels or changes their reservation?
If your guest cancels their reservation, the property will be able to charge the cancellation fee right away. The same goes for no-shows. And the payment is always guaranteed.

Virtual card Opt-in

By opting in to virtual cards, bookings will automatically be processed on the day of arrival without other credit cards being deducted, so that you don't have to manually process the payment. For more information click here.

Cleaning Fees and Child policy is invoiced direct with Booking.com and does not update with Bookings that come through Nightsbridge, it is your responsibility to collect the payments.

Cash Only - You are in charge of collecting payment

It is your responsibility to follow up with the guest if they will pay when they arrive or send them your bank details for an EFT payment. If it does not reflect, you need to contact the client and arrange for another means of payment. If you are unable to get hold of the client and arrange payment, the booking needs to be canceled on the Booking.com Extranet. Booking.com will not assist you in collecting the funds.

Payments by Booking.com

NightsBridge recommends PayBridge (for South African properties only) in order to process all credit card payments. For more information click here.
